I drove my truck like the mechanic said: 30 min. So far everything has checked out good except for the EVAP system section which still says incomplete. You could have a bad thermostat or a bad ECT sensor. Now when I went to smog my truck I found out that it wont pass until I complete a drive cycle. You need a scan tool to monitor engine temp and see what it gets to. A P0126 means the ECT has not seen the coolant temp go over 160F. Then don't be afraid to really step on it to get it up to speed.Īnd of course it goes without saying find a deserted stretch of road to do this on. It can not run the Evap test, to set the monitor untill the engine is up to operating temp. Try deceling for longer than 5 seconds go 10 or 15 seconds just to really give it a workout. In other words, if the EVAP is ready and the CAT is not-ready, the vehicle will fail a CA. Get it up to 62 and just let off the throttle let it slow by it's self then stab it to get back up to 62 then let off again. An incomplete evaporative monitor will not cause a smog check failure. If it is not passed, go to > and retest. If it is passed, readiness is complete. What Makes a Monitor Incomplete or Not Ready Monitors on all vehicles are Incomplete or Not Ready until the OBD software runs its tests to completion. Once the PCM has finished testing the emission control system, the monitor is said to be Complete or Ready. Check the OBD status screen for DTC P0401 in the DTC's MENU with the HDS. system software will only begin a test once the enabling criteria are met.If the engine is stopped during this procedure, go to > and do the procedure again. Failed because evaporative system and O2 monitors were not ready. With the Transmission in D position, decelerate from 62 mph (100 km/h) or above by completely releasing the throttle for at least 5 seconds. I went to get Smog Check done little too soon after clearing CEL fault code.Drive at a steady speed with the Transmission in D position, 50−62 mph (80−100 km/h) or above for more than 10 seconds.
